Matthews Eyewear Eyecare is an independently owned and operated chain of optometry practices across New Zealand's lower North Island and top of the South Island.
We currently have seven Optometry practices located in Nelson,
Richmond, Motueka and Blenheim,
Wellington, Lower Hutt, Kapiti Coast and New Plymouth.
With clear intentions of expansion - our need for professional
talent will extend for the next three to five years at minimum.
As a result of these exciting developments within the
group, we welcome and encourage enquiry from experienced/qualified
Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians.
Currently within Team Matthews (45 staff) we have 15 Optom's,
10 qualified or trainee dispensers and 22 support staff;
in essence we’re a cultural melting pot (of Kiwi’s, English, South
African) all contributing towards a collective 700+ years of Optics
experience across the group.
Both professions (Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians) require registration with the NZ Registrations Board and the issuing of
Annual Practicing Certificates.

there are some entry requirements that you will need to complete,
please email our HR Manager (see below).
